The English Language Center was founded on a "vision of a better tomorrow".  A vision that endeavoured to create a professionally synchronized learning atmosphere for the acquisition of English language skills. As a result, learners are provided with stability in their professional development while they enhance their knowledge and skills. We provide them with the assurance that their productive potentials will be fully optimized while pointing them in the direction of the gateway to globally competitive opportunities.

The Center offers a wide variety of competency based learning programs ranging from General English, Technical English, Business English, English for Specific Purposes and English for Academic Purposes.  These courses are not only for students enrolled in the college but also for Royal Commission employees and residents of the wider community in Yanbu. To this end, we are responding to the needs of local industry in the fields of Engineering, Management and Information Technology as well as to the English language needs of the general population. As part of our commitment to being leaders in the field of English language teaching and learning, we have put together a comprehensive package of courses that are second to none. We have developed a range of aptitude and ability tests to facilitate placement and measure progress.  Similarly, we have developed appropriate curriculum which makes use of the latest technological and educational innovations taking place in the academic world.  Our faculty are extremely well qualified and experienced; furthermore, they are continually involved in professional development initiatives so that their effectiveness is maintained and enhanced.  We liaise with local industry and other departments within the college to establish and foster harmonious working relationships with those that we support and serve. Our internal management and supervisory systems are well integrated and operate smoothly, efficiently and professionally so that our evaluation of teachers and our assessment of students' performance is accurate.

ELC Profile

Located in the Academic Building of Yanbu Industrial College, the English Language Center aims at creating a learning community through compatibility and communication.  The interrelated structure of the Center enables students, members of faculty and the Center Director to collaborate in the creation of an academic atmosphere conducive to the continual constructive evolution and development of the Center.  Offering twenty-four different courses, the Center is able to address the communicative needs of learners who have a wide range of skills and abilities.  Our 70 members of faculty come from the four corners of the globe and bring an element of cultural diversity and racial harmony to everything we do. In the ELC, English is truly an international language.

The English Language Center is fully committed to providing the best education possible for the young men who enrol in YIC. We see it as our duty to help all of our students to realise their educational ambitions so that they have a solid foundation on which to build their lives. For this reason, we offer highly respected  undergraduate qualifications, diplomas, associate and bachelor degrees as well as continuing education programs.
